Further details
The inscription relates to Victor Alexander, Earl Grosvenor (1853-1884), eldest son of Hugh Lupus Grosvenor, 1st Duke of Westminster. He predeceased his father and therefore did not suceed to the Dukedom. The candlestick would appear to be a 21st Birthday present to the Earl from Lucy Felton as he was born on the 28th April 1853. He married on 3rd November of that year Lady Sibell Mary Lumley (d.1913), daughter of the 9th Early of Scarbrough.
