Francesco Michetti is known as a painter of historical subjects, and as a printer. He studied under Morelli and Dalbono, and was a pupil at the Neapolitan Academy. He showed his works in Naples, Turin, Rome, and at the Paris Salon. Known as one of the better Italian painters of his day, he gained gold medals at Berlin in 1886 and 1891, and a gold medal at the Paris Salon in 1900. The gallery of Modern Art in Venice, The Berlin National Gallery and the Art Institute of Chicago are just a few museums who hold his work.
