FINE CONTEMPORARY GOLD-TOOLED AND MOSAIC BINDING BY BRADSTREET'S OF NEW YORK: red morocco, covers and spine inlaid with grey-green and citron morocco, outlined with gilt fillets, to an early and bold Art Nouveau design of stylized foliage, olive morocco doublures inlaid with maroon and fawn morocco border of strapwork design, two rectangular frames inlaid with green morocco, the central panel with multiple fillets and floral ornament to a repeat pattern, signed by the binder on front turn-in, top edges gilt, uncut. Provenance: Brentano's, New York booksellers (typed description) -- Christie's NY, 14 December 1984, lot 104.

LIMITED EDITION OF 300 COPIES ON HOLLAND PAPER. Bradstreet's were among the most accomplished binders in late-19th-century America, although very little seems to be known about the firm.
