The broad-shouldered body painted with composite foliate scroll, the leafy scrolling tendrils in dark blue and the flowers in copper red partially fired to apple green, between petal borders and with a ruyi band below the mouth rim

Lot Essay

No other vase of this exact pattern appears to be published, although other comparable copper-red-decorated blue and white meiping are known. See, for example, the meiping included in the exhibition, Emperor Ch'ien-lung's Grand Cultural Enterprise, National Palace Museum, Taipei, p. 171, V-3.
