Each decorated on the body and waisted neck with peony scroll reserved on an iron-red ground between bands of pale green overlapping petals embellished with flower sprigs on the body and a diaper and lotus band on the neck, with a band of babao on the shoulder

Lot Essay

A pair of similar vases, formerly from the Morgan Collection, also dated to the Kangxi period, was sold in these rooms, 2 December, 1993, lot 279. Another pair of vases with covers was included in the International Exhibition of Chinese Art, Royal Academy of Arts, London, 1935-6, no. 1662.
