A Blue-Laced Suit of Armor
Edo period (17th century)
Laced entirely in blue and purple and comprising; a momonari helmet lacquered black, the peak and turnbacks trimmed with shakudo rope-style edging, the turnbacks decorated with Nabeshima family crests in gold lacquer, the rear of the helmet with a shakudo and gold ring, the helmet fitted with a four-lame solid-plate neck guard lacquered black; the hanbo facemask with a three-lame solid-plate throat guard, the mask interior red lacquer; the two-plate solid do lacquered black trimmed with leather with shakudo edging and with two shakudo and gold rings on the front and one large ring on the back, fitted with seven sections of five-lame solid-plate tassets lacquered black; chu-sode and tsutsu gote lacquered black with Nabeshima family crests on the sleeves in gold lacquer; solid-plate shin guards and hon kozane thigh guards; war fan and two wood storage boxes
