A Rectangular Porcelain Inkstone
Choson period (19th century)
Moulded on the upper surface with the facade of a gate above a recessed rectangular well and larger, very slightly recessed rectangular surface for grinding the ink stick, the background of the top surface and sides moulded with dragons, a spouting fish, turtle and mythical horse amongst waves; the open underside of the inkstone moulded in high relief with a tortoise supporting a tablet with incised inscription not clearly legible; the whole save the flat underside rim applied with a blue-tinged transparent glaze
