FIRST EDITION. "Preface states the work to be written for prospective settlers, and based on the Author's own observations and on Charlevoix. It is one of the first statements of French-English rival claims in Nova Scotia"( TPL). The present copy collates as in T.P.L. and Waldon: A2 B-O4. Other references apparently overlook the fact there are no numbered pages before 10; the Preface had perhaps been expected to be longer than 2 pages, and the addition of a half-title would have completed the first signature. Not in Lande, Streeter or Howes. Dionne II, 472; Field 1144; Sabin 56135; Staton & Tremaine/TPL 210.
