One of the most famous women of South America, Eva Peron rose to fame at the age of 26 when she married Colonel Juan Peron in 1945. She was thrust into the international limelight and impressed the world with her combination of glamour and political acumen. Eva Peron never forgot the people from her impoverished background and after her death, many in Argentina referred to her as "Saint Eva".
