ATTRIBUTED TO JAMES SHOOLBRED & CO, LATE 19TH CENTURY
With a low gallery and ball finials, central drawer and two curved brass rails above drip pans, bearing two indistinct registration marks in the drawer, the brass gallery part replaced.

Lot Essay

James Shoolbred and Company exhibited an extensive selection of goods at the 1878 Paris Universal Exhibition. Much of the furniture they designed was influenced by the aestetic taste popularised by the architect E.W.Godwin. They became one of first large departmental stores in London and were awarded a Royal Warrant in the mid 1880's.
