Born in Poitiers in 1832, Perrault studied at the Académie Julien under the tutelage of William Adolpe Bouguereau. He made his debut at the Salon of 1861, and was made a Knight of the Legion of Honor in 1887. During his lifetime, he exhibited his work in Paris, Vienna, Philadelphia and New York.
