Lot Essay
The Fiona to whom this book is dedicated is the photographer, Fiona Adams who took the famous 'jumping' shot for the cover of the Beatles' first EP Twist And Shout, 1963. Ms Adams recalls first meeting the Beatles in a studio in Kingly Street in Soho to take some shots for the EP cover, but decided it was too cramped and suggested they find a location outside - the 'jumping' shot was taken around Euston Road and North Gower Street. The shot used on the cover was chosen by John Lennon and Tony Barrow. Ms Adams recalls that this first encounter ...cemented a rapport between us all, and afterwards I photographed them many times, between '63 and '67... The book in this lot was signed for Ms Adams by John Lennon at a reception at Australia House, London in 1964.
