Diagonally-banded overall in cocus-wood, the rectangular moulded top above a drawer later fitted with burr-yew lidded compartments around a hinged ratcheted mirror with bevelled plate in a mahogany moulded frame, above three graduated drawers, on later bracket feet, the handles replaced

Lot Essay

A Georgian walnut chest with very similar diagonal laburnum banding was sold anonymously, Christie's, London, 13 July 1990, lot 155. The top drawer originally had divisions and was placed above two short drawers.
