Lot Essay

Accompanied by Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with silvered dial, applied gold numerals and tachymetre scale in 1943 and its subsequent sale on 22 September 1945.

Furthermore delivered with copy of Wempe Bremen invoice dated 8 July 1995 amounting to DM 4'652 for the overhaul of the watch.

Manufacture of reference 591 was launched in 1938 and was cased in yellow and pink gold only. It is interesting to note that examples in yellow gold are rarer. To the best of our knowledge, the present watch is one of only 8 examples to appear in public to date.

The model is illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by Martin Huber & Alan Banbery, second edition, p. 264.
