Lot Essay

The strong script and dense paper of this manuscript are hallmarks of Abbasid book production. It was copied in Baghdad (madinat al-salam) by the scribe Abu Muhammad b. Isma'il b. al-Faraj b. Mansur al-Maqiri al-Qazwini, in April 1126. This little-known text is not cited by either Brockelmann or Sezgin, although several works with the same name are; it seems the swift Islamic conquest of Arabia, Asia and Africa provided ample material for a sustained tradition of religious and historical works.
