SAFAVID IRAN, PROBABLY TABRIZ, THIRD QUARTER 16TH CENTURY
Gouache heightened with gold on paper, with many figures bearing various weapons including swords, spears, lassoos, muskets, bows and knives, some mounted and some on foot, hunting a huge variety of animals including lions, tigers, leopards, gazelles, deer, ibex, hare and bears amidst a craggy landscape, with gold margins, some flaking and loss of colour but no retouching
10 7/8 x 6 1/8in. (27.5 x 15.5cm.)
