Lot Essay

Amedeo (1898-1942), son of Emanuele, 2nd Duke of Asota and his wife Hélène (1871-1951), second daughter of Prince Philippe of Oraeans, was Viceroy of Ethiopia, Gov-General of East Africa, married his first cousin Anne, daughter of Prince Jean of France. He died in a prisoner of war camp in Nairobi, Kenya.
Vittorio Emanuele is the only son of Umberto II (1904-1983) and his wife Maria José (1906-2001).
