Vittorio Emanuele II, King of Sardinia and later King of Italy (1820-1878), in black coat with silver embroidered collar and silver lacing on left shoulder, wearing the gold jewel and badge of the Royal Sardinian Order of the Most Sacred Annunciation and the badge of the Royal Military Medal of Savoy and the Royal Italian Medal of Independency (of 1865); and the sitter seated in a red-upholstered gilt-wood chair, in blue coat with silver collar and silver lacing on his right shoulder, wearing the gold chain and breats star of the Royal Sardinian Order of the Most Sacred Annunciation, the green moiré sash of the Orders of Saints Maurice and Lazarus and the badge of the Military Medal of Savoy (signed by P.
