Provenance: Sam Davenport (contemporary ownership inscription on title) -- J.W. Goldman (bookplate; lot 20 in his sale at Hodgson's, 24 November 1966, bought in at £5).

First published in 1721. In the 1733 6th edition Bailey's definition of cricket was improved from "a sort of play with a ball" to "a sort of play with bats and a ball". cf. Padwick 862.
