PRESENTATION COPY TO CHRISTOPHER HESELTINE, with his bookplate and tipped-in letter to him from the author, 3½p., dated Huttons Ambo Hall, York, Sunday, beginning: "So nice to see you both at C.C. -- but what a squash!" Then offering his book as an early birthday present, "I want to give you enclosed and hope it may be of some interest to you -- someday I will sign it for you," half-title duly inscribed: "In memory of many happy days and with best wishes from The Author". Provenance: signed inscription by the author on front blank -- Regimental Institute Library, Richborough (stamp at end).
Second edition. Fry evidently cared little for the "action photographs", inscribing this copy: "C.B. Fry but he deprecates the illustration as post-fabricated by a non-cricketer". Padwick 696. (2)
