An Indian dagger (kard), North India, circa 1800
The tapering watered steel single-edged blade with armour piercing tip, a ridge running along the spine, a panel of gold damascened scrolling arabesques and floral motifs on each side by the hilt, the walrus-ivory faced hilt with medial steel ridge damascened with gold floral motifs, the top hinged originally to receive another similar smaller dagger -- 13¼in. (33.5cm.) long .
