Lot Essay

The composition follows a print by Nicolaes de Bruyn (Hollstein no. 171), in reverse after a drawing by Vinckboons, Printroom, Copenhagen (for which, see K. Goossens, David Vinckboons, Soest, 1954, p. 64, fig. 30).
