Each with arched embossed leather back with Knight's armorial above scrolling foliage and eagles, the edges with brass studs and with turned baluster finials, downswept moulded arms and scrolled terminal, on a baluster support and embossed leather seat, above an arched interlaced front stretcher, on baluster legs joined by conforming stretchers, the back reduced in height (2)

Lot Essay

A chair of this design in the Palacio de los Condes de Perelada, Palma de Mallorca, is illustrated in Marqués de Lozoya, Meubles de Estilo Español, 1962, pl. 206. An almost identical pair of side chairs was sold anonymously, Christie's, London, 30 September 1999, lot 87.
