In the World Cup Qualifying match against Greece, played on 17th March 1965 at Cardiff, Wales won 4-1. In the Home Championship match against Northern Ireland, played on 31st March 1965 at Belfast, Wales won 5-0 (Vernon scoring two goals). In the Friendly match against Italy, played on 1st May 1965 in Florence, Wales were defeated 4-1
