Two English wax over papier-mache headed dolls
with inset blue and dark eyes, cloth bodies, kid arms and contemporary clothes, in printed cotton with cap and straw sun bonnet, theother in brown bombazine with silk cape, apron and hat trimmed with blue ribbon, extra clothes and accessories including two cotton printed dresses, a nightgown, galoshes and soap, mid 19th century --13in. (33cm.) high (one face cracked, the other with rubbed nose); and a few extra clothes for a larger doll

Provenance
Hand written notes attached to each doll read 'This doll is more than 40 years old and belonged to my Aunt Lucy Burgess at 1st, but it was given to me after 1851' and 'This doll was given to me by Brothers who brought it home from school in the 1847'.
