The scroll comprises a letter with a poem, and several colophons to the letter, all by the artist.
Signed by the artist: Youwei, Nanhai Kang Youwei
One seal of the artist: Kang You Wei Yin (twice)
Dedicated to Baoweng (Wang Renmin, 1863-1941)
A colophon by Liang Qichao (1873-1929), dated eighth month, jiayin year (1914), signed, with one seal, and dedicated to Baoweng
Colophons at the end of the scroll by each of Xu Qin (1873-1945), Xu Liang (18th-19th century), and Chen Jinghong (20th century)
Frontispiece with a poem by Wang Renmin, describing the artist composing a poem for him when they met in Japan, and the colophons by the artist added in subsequebt meetings. Dated gengwu year (1930), signed, with two seals.
