R. Jordan is listed in the Richmond City Directory in 1819 as a watchmaker. He appears to have worked until 1840, when watchmaker B. Johnson advertised in the Richmond Enquirer that he took over R. Jordan's old stand (G. B. Cutten, Silversmiths of Virginia, 1952, p. 163).
