Lot Essay

Norman Wilkinson was born in Cambridge, but moved to Portsmouth at a young age. After a career in the Royal Navy during World War I, Wilkinson proved himself a fine and prolific painter of Maritime scenes and landscapes, as well as one of the best known poster designers in the country.
