A EUROPEAN BRONZE DAGGER BLADE
MIDDLE BRONZE AGE, CIRCA 1500-1300 B.C.
Ogival in form, lozenge in section, the edges slightly bevelled, the mid-rib prominent, finely engraved on each side with eight parallel lines and a row of concentric semicircles following the curvature of the blade, the rounded butt with a large concentric semicircle bordered by rows of hatches and four hatched trumpet-shaped elements, preserving six rivets for attachment to a separately-made hilt

South Styrian Noble Collection, received circa 1900 as a gift from Marie Gabriele Ernestine von Windisch-Grätz, the niece of Prince Ernst, and later Duchess of Mecklenberg.
