FRENCH, CIRCA 1810
Rectangular on four ball feet, the sides and cover carved with a recurring geometric pattern and set with faceted steel studwork, opening to reveal a Palais Royal mother-of-pearl sewing set comprising: a needlecase;
two reels;
a thimble with pansy motif;
a stiletto with pansy motif;
and a crochet hook;
the part mirrored lid painted with a classical scene, the sewing tool tray bordered on three sides with part mirrored painted figural and townscape scenes and floral embroidered pin cushions, the tray lifting to reveal a further painted figural scene, the musical movement with four teeth per sectional comb playing two airs, bedplate number 6174, possibly by Pilliard -- length of box 10ins.
