4° (215 x 170mm). Latin half-title, woodcut Arabic title, Latin title in red and black, Sententia leaf. Preface in Latin, text in vocalised Arabic. (Without the singleton Arabic half-title, Arabic title lightly soiled, 2I2 with small hole through last word on recto, 2K2 with piece torn from lower margin, GGG1 with fragment torn from outer margin close to text, 4O2 torn across corner of the page and repaired with partial loss of a letter.) Contemporary panelled calf (rebacked, preserving old spine, new lettering-piece, covers flaked, corners restored but a little bumped, rear inner hinges split). Provenance: Barham Hall, 1807 (bookplate).

FIRST EDITION. Traditionally regarded as the first printed edition of the Arabic text, but now recognised as the second. Few copies have both half-titles present. Hinckelmann, a Hamburg theologian and collector of oriental manuscripts, also considered publishing a Latin edition of the Koran. Brunet III, 1306.
