4° (225 x 148mm). Woodcut title border, woodcut world map and 83 woodcuts with sidepieces, woodcut historiated initials, head- and tailpieces, large Giolito device on final page, pages ruled in red. (Light stain at lower edges, some light spotting, title border just shaved.) 20th-century vellum.
Fourth Giolito edition of Dolce's translation of the Metamorphoses. The woodcuts were cut to illustrate the first Dolce edition of 1553, with a few additions. The world map shows America as Nueva Hispania. Bongi, Giolito II, p.20; cf. Mortimer, Harvard Italian 342.
