Dark blue morocco gilt by the Doves Bindery signed in gilt 'THE · DOVES · BINDERY , 19 C - S 08' on the lower rear turn-in, boards panelled in gilt, the corners of the intersections with annular tools, within gilt-ruled borders, gilt-ruled board-edges and turn-ins, turn-ins with foliate cornerpieces, spine gilt in compartments, titled in one and dated at the foot, others decorated with tudor-rose and rose-leaf tools, gilt edges (some superficial cracking and flaking on joints).
LIMITED TO 325 COPIES, THIS ONE OF 25 ON VELLUM, BOUND BY THE DOVES BINDERY. The pattern for this binding is described by Tidcombe Doves Bindery 703. Of the 25 vellum copies, 3 had the title-page printed in red and black; the title of the present copy is printed entirely in black.
