The back of the bowl engraved with initials, the seal with the remains of gilding - 7in. (17.8cm.) long, 1.25oz.

Lot Essay

Jackson records this mark as Raleigh Clapham of Barnstaple however in his book West Country Silver Spoons and Their Maker's 1550-1750 Timothy Kent suggests that this mark is more likely that of Richard Chandler of Plymouth.
