MARK OF JOHN NEWTON MAPPIN, LONDON, 1892
Of oblong section supported on four winged paw feet, supporting two silver-mounted cut-glass bottles, the detachable cover of the central box applied with the badge of the 29th (Worcestershire) Regiment, also engraved with an inscription to Major H. Everard - 13¾in. (34.8cm.) long, 53.5oz.

Lot Essay

Commissioned as a Lieutenant in the West Norfolk Militia in 1872 Everard transferred to the 12th Regiment in 1874, finally joining the 29th (Worcestershire) Regiment in 1875. He was Appointed a Captain in the 3rd Battalion Worcestershire Regiment on the 17th May 1882, before going on to write about the regiment.
