COUPE LIBATOIRE EN CORNE DE RHINOCEROS SCULPTEE
CHINE, DYNASTIE QING, XVIIème-XVIIIème SIECLE
Sculptée en bas relief, à l'extérieur d'un paysage de montagnes, rochers et arbres, une rivière jaillissant d'une cascade, des personnages occupés à pêcher, cheminant le long d'un sentier ou dans un pavillon, l'anse délicatement détachée du corps et formée par deux troncs de pins dont les branches s'épanouissent le long de la lèvre, l'intérieur rehaussé de deux puissants dragons, leurs griffes acérées, plantées dans la coupe ; belle couleur brun-rouge ; petites restaurations

For similar horns with such landscapes and waterscapes, see T. Fok, Connoisseurship of Rhinoceros Horn Carving in China, Hong Kong 1999, pls.162 and 164. However, there are very few examples of rhinoceros horns with both landscape scene outside and dragons carved inside, the closest one is illustrated by T. Fok, Op. Cit., pl.146. It is carved outside with Scholars in a rocky garden with trees, the inside enhanced with a powerful dragon similar to those of the current vessel
