A 19th century Russian silver-gilt box,
modelled as a combination cigarette case and vesta case, the exterior with reeded and mottled design and with cabochon emerald thumb piece, the interior with engraved crown above the names Alfred, Victoria, Maria, Sandra, and dated 1888; and four further gilt and parcel gilt cigarette cases comprising: a curved example with rose diamond and cabochon sapphire thumb piece and vesta compartment, a reeded one with sprung hinge lid and cabochon sapphire thumb piece, a two-colour engine-turned and floral engraved design, and an amusing cast example depicting the front and back views of a seated peasant, the interior bearing incorrect maker's mark.
