20th century, the rectangular top decorated with a central section of birds, grapes and scrolling foliage, the borders with shells and animals, each corner with stylised heads and fleur de lys, 242 cm. (95 in.) long, 120 cm. (47 in.) wide

Lot Essay

This table is after a design by Giovanni Battista Foggini (1652-1725), who trained in Florence and Rome. In 1687 he became the grand ducal sculptor and later court architect for the Medici's. The original table is in the Pitti Palace, Florence
