A VIENNA (DU PAQUIER) SMALL CHINOISERIE MUG
CIRCA 1730
Decorated in coloured enamels and gilding with an Oriental standing on the banks of a river, with pavilions on both sides of the river connected by a wood bridge, the left pavilion surrounded by flowering shrubs and trees, fences and blue and puce rockwork, a red zig-zag line border and silvered footrim below, the square-section ear-shaped handle with puce foliage and pendant silver husks, its upper terminal issuing from a lyre-shaped panel flanked by foliage and surmounted by a stylised shell, the interior of the rim with a silver band border (some flaking to enamels, slight wear to silvering, minute wear to gilding)
