the concave pierced discus moulded in relief with two doves drinking from a fluted pedestal urn, single nozzle with volutes at the neck, loop handle, maker's mark beneath -- 4 1/8in. (10.5cm.) high, 1st Century A.D.

Subject taken from the celebrated mosaic depiction by Sosos (circa 150-100 B.C.) from Pergamum, described by the elder Pliny.
