1933 MORRIS MINOR SALOON
Registration No. ALL 806
Chassis No. Tba
Engine No. Tba
Black with black fabric interior
Engine: Four cylinder, side valve, 847cc, 8hp; Gearbox: three speed manual; Suspension: front and rear, semi-elliptic leaf spring. Right hand drive.
The rather belated response to the Austin Seven by Morris was the diminutive Monor of 1928. This started life with a Wolseley designed overhead camshaft engine also used by MG. In 1931 there appeared a simpler side value version that has stood the test of time and is an endearing small car. Minors were far less numerous that the Austin Seven and just under 40,000 of the overhead cam types and rather more than 47,000 side valve models built before the more widely sold Morris Eight arrived.
This car bears all the hallmarks of these cars from opening windscreen to Pytchley sliding sunroof and carries additional scuttle mounted trafficators. Sadly, there is no documentation to provide a history for this nicely presented little Morris. Its registration number certainly confirms it to date from the 1933 season, since the prefix 'ALL' was only issued to cars between March and November that year, by Nottingham County Council.
What is certain is that the car has enjoyed a relatively simple life and today is largely original and unspoilt. Its paintwork shows standard signs of aging such as small chips and occasional areas of rust, while the interior is probably original to the car and may well clean up.
