Ford's 10hp 'C' was the most efficient model of its peers, giving 70mph performance and 35 miles per gallon. Its styling owed much to the larger V8 series of cars, but condensed into a compact package of only 147 inches length. 96,553 were sold in the three years of production, which saw minor revisions such as the 'CX' of October 1935, which was distinguishable visually by its horizontal chrome radiator strips and bonnet louvres.
'EG 2726' is a standard example of the Ford C Type 10hp Tudor saloon. Some of its history is able to be ascertained from the old buff log book which comes with the car. This confirms a date of first registration of 19th May 1936, while the pre-fix to its registration places that location as being under the auspices of Peterborough County Council.
After 20 years of its life it was sold to Stanley Doddington of Westcliffe-on-Sea, with whom it was recorded on 21st March 1955. Attached to the logbook is an MoT Test Certificate dating from July 30th 1966 and issued by the local Westminster Garage. It is most likely that the car was purchased by the Sharpe family shortly after this time.
The Ford was unearthed early on during cataloguing and has subsequently been valeted in preparation for its sale. After decades of storage, it is in need of sympathetic restoration, but does appear to be ostensibly complete, retaining its original upholstery, though missing carpets and headlining.
A buff log book and an old V5 registration document accompany the car.
