In 1936 Vauxhall production extended to 17,640 units, made up of four models, BX, BY, DY and DX as offered for sale here. The DX had been introduced one year earlier and ran until 1938 and was most noted for its cruciform chassis and the introduction of Dubonnet system coil independent front suspension.

To date no paperwork has been found for this Vauxhall which will leave some investigation for the purchaser to pursue. Simply from its registration number certain information can be ascertained, since its pre-fix places it as being no earlier than June 1936, and its location as being within the bounds of London County Council. In line with the most prolific period of acquisitions by the Sharpe family, it is expected that it would have been acquired in the mid-1960s.

The Vauxhall has been in long term Museum storage and accordingly presents very well, its tidy livery is heightened by the period chrome trims including headlights, and has the optional extra of a sunroof.

Special notice
This lot is offered without reserve. No VAT will be charged on the hammer price, but VAT at 17.5% will be added to the buyer's premium, which is invoiced on a VAT inclusive basis.
