A Cantonese Swedish Market dish, dated 1910, Xuantong six character mark
decorated with a crest and motto 'Fortiter Et Celeriter', amongst a vase of flower sprays, precious objects, a stag and butterflies, the underside inscribed 'Alice och (and) James Keiller' -- 9¾in. (24.7cm) diam.

Lot Essay

The Gothernberg family of Keiller is of Scottish descent, orginally from Dundee, from Alexander Keiller, who in 1797 set up business in Gothenberg with a fellow Scot, William Gibson.
