Tasting note: The 1997 Brunello Altero exhibits a more saturated dark ruby/purple color in addition to a sweeter nose of ripe black cherry fruit intermixed with leather, spice box, and weedy tobacco. Rich and medium to full-bodied, with noticeable new oak, it has the potential to merit 90 points, but at presant is a bit angular and austere. Anticipated maturity:2006-2014.
