A 20th-Century brass armillary sphere,
signed A. MORETTI ROMA, with wire axis rod, colures, polar and tropic circles (reglued), full and three-quarter meridian circles, each stamped with graduations on both sides, horizon band graduated in hours on the inner face and stamped HOMO TEMPOR[E] TEMPUS HOMINIS MENSURA FACIT on the outer, with maker's name and the latitudes of twenty-one European cities, horizon ring graduated in degrees with divisions for months and houses of the Zodiac, held in a meridian half-circle stamped with degree graduations in two quadrants on each side, arranged to tilt on a short curved support with roller and screw clamp beneath, on two curved supports with twin ball finials over the glazed compass with steel needle, two bubble levels and wind rose, the circular horizontal plate with stamped wind directions in Italian and repeated triangular motif decoration, with four protruding square corners, each with ball finial and adjustable screw foot -- 56.5cm. (22¼in.) high
