Lot Essay

Anna Orzelska was the illigitimate daughter of Augustus II of Poland (1670-1733) and Henryka Renard. On the discovery of her identity in 1724 by her half-brother, Anna was officially recognised by her father who granted her the title of countess and provided her with money and a residence - the 'Blue Palace' in Warsaw.
