A rare and early collection of theatre programmes and press clippings documenting Marlon Brando's theatre career, 1944-1947, the 14 programmes comprising: eight programmes for Brando's Summer Stock season with Erwin Piscator's Dramatic Workshop, Sayville, Long Island, various dates July, 1944, plays comprise Twelth Night, Dr. Sganarelle, Hannele's Way To Heaven, Ladies In Retirement and Claudia; two programmes for I Remember Mama, The Music Box, New York, the week beginning 19 October, 1944, Brando's biography stating that he was born in Calcutta, India, where his Father was engaged in geological research..., with four corresponding ticket stubs for the opening night; Antigone And Candida, Harris Theatre, Chicago, May-June, 1946 (2), Brando's biography stating he was born in Bangkok while his Father was engaged in zoological research...; A Flag Is Born, illustrated souvenir programme and a handbill for the week beginning 5 September, 1946, Brando's biography in the programme stating that he was born in Bangkok, Siam, the son of an etymologist now affiliated with the Field Museum in Chicago, Mr. Brando spent his early years in Calcutta, Indo-China, the Mongolian desert and Ceylon.
