8o. Original cloth-backed boards (boards lightly faded); dust jacket (slight wear along edges, lightly soiled); unique quarter morocco folding case with three-dimensional miniature cue stick and pool balls along spine. Provenance: Will Rogers (presentation incription from the author).

WILL ROGER'S COPY OF THE FIRST EDITION. PRESENTATION COPY, inscribed by Tevis on the front endpaper: "To Will Rogers Walter Tevis Athens, Ohio April, 1975." and additionally signed by Tevis on the title-page. Tevis' novel became the basis of a 1961 film starring Paul Newman as the flawed but charismatic pool hustler "Fast Eddie" Felson. EXTREMELY RARE: According to American Book Prices Current, no signed or inscribed copy has appeared at auction in at least the past 30 years.
