A Queen Anne Walnut, kingwood and marquetry striking table clock with quarter repeat

The case inlaid to the front, sides and top with arabesque foliate marquetry on an ebonised ground, heavy kingwood mouldings, foliate cast brass handle to the cushion moulded top, the base on brass squab feet, the rear door glass applied with an exhibition label for The British Clockmaker's Heritage Exhibition, Science Museum, London, 1952, CAT No. 135, the inside of the front door applied with another label IDEN Collection, inventory No. 1387. TAYLOR, the 6 7/8 in. square brass dial signed Tho: Taylor Holburn on the silvered chapter ring, pierced and shaped blued steel hands, the matted centre with ringed winding holes and foliate engraved calendar aperture, winged cherub spandrels, the movement with thick brass plates, twin gut fusees, knife-edge verge excapement, pull quarter repeat on three bells via three hammers and hour strike on a larger bell, the backplate engraved with intertwining symmetrical foliage inhabited with the heads of two beasts and signed in the centre Thomas Taylor Holborn
